Basic Function: To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the District's curriculum and extra-curricular program.
Basic Responsibilities:
- Obeys ALL traffic laws.
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Maintains discipline when students are on the bus and while loading and unloading.
- Never leaves the bus when children are on the bus.
- Reports undisciplined students to the proper principal and bus supervisor.
- Keeps interior of assigned bus clean, swept and dusted.
- Completes pre-trip bus inspections before starting each bus route and trip.
- Notifies transportation director in case of mechanical failure of equipment that needs attention.
- Reports all accidents to the transportation director and completes all necessary accident reports.
- Enforces and adheres to all applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations, board policies and administrative rules.
- Discharges students only at authorized stops.
- To be neat, clean and courteous.
- Maintain a positive rapport with students, staff, parents, and the community.
- Cooperate with and work in a courteous manner with co-workers and other personal.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude toward school, students, and job and also communicate the same to the community.
- Maintain confidentiality in the school operation.
- Obtain a proper drivers license with proper endorsements for the position.
- Submit to a pre-employment drug test and be on the random Drug and Alcohol list if required for the position.
- To attend all classes or schools of instruction as required by the state or local board.
- To assume such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the transportation director or supervisor.
