Robert Half Full Charge Bookkeeper in Des Moines, Iowa
Description Robert Half is seeking candidates for an excellent Full Charge Bookkeeper opportunity. To be successful in this role and take advantage of the growth potential, you should multitask effectively, manage your time well, and have strong communication and organizational skills. Your responsibilities will include the preparation of financial statements; the establishment and preservation of the accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives of the business; and all other general accounting and bookkeeping tasks. The long-term contract / temporary Full Charge Bookkeeper will work in Des Moines, Iowa.
What you get to do every day
Producing the trial balance and financial statements, including, but not limited to, balance sheet and statements of income and of cash flows
Filing documents to maintain historical records
Handling processing tasks for accounts payable and accounts receivable, including collections
Preparing depreciation schedules by tracking fixed assets
Handling reconciliations for bank and general ledgers, and processing payroll
Ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
Studying and adhering to federal, state, and local legal requirements, filing reports, and detailing needed actions to management
Overseeing accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers Requirements - Ability to multitask and attention to detail are critical
- Excel, Quickbooks, and Peachtree experience desired
Payroll experience
Accounts Payable (AP) experience preferred
Bookkeeping experience
Knowledge of payroll
Capable of working independently with minimal oversight
Background in payroll preferred
3 or more years of experience in the bookkeeping field
Show the ability to adapt and learn new techniques and skill sets when required
High school diploma or comparable diploma with an AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business preferred
A thorough knowledge of accrual and cash basis of accounting
Strong time management and organizational skills
Proficient at analyzing financial data and promptly creating accurate reports
