Corteva Agriscience Marketing Communications Manager - PhytoGen & Brand Alignment in Johnston, Iowa

Come join our team in the role of Marketing Communications Manager! This position will lead all facets of marketing communications for PhytoGen® cottonseed brand in the U.S. Work collaboratively and as an integral part of the US Marketing Communications team and Pioneer and PhytoGen marketing team to develop and implement marketing communications strategies, objectives and tactics that deliver on the Coastal Commercial Unit (CU) seed business goals and growth aspirations, taking into consideration the Corteva seed brands, crop management practices and go-to market nuances. Provide marketing communications support for new customer relationship and growth opportunity initiatives for the Pioneer and PhytoGen brands through all routes-to-market (retail and independent sales agent models) in the U.S.

Strategic marketing communications plan development and implementation for PhytoGen® cottonseed brand.

  • Lead the development and implementation of multi-channel or omnichannel marketing communications plans, including objectives, messaging, strategies, tactics and measurement plans aligned to PhytoGen business goals.

  • Work with advertising agency and internal marketing communications partners to develop and execute marketing communications plans and implement in a timely manner. This includes business direction, guidance, creative feedback and project prioritization.

  • Evaluate and utilize all channels and media outlets to deliver messages most effectively and efficiently depending on target audience.

  • Manage PhytoGen brand sponsorships.

  • Create literature and other sales support materials that deliver consistent messaging supporting PhytoGen cotton products.

  • Collaborate with Public Relations team members to maximize earned media opportunities. Consider media relations tactics as part of the overall marketing communications plan for both PhytoGen and multi-brand opportunities in the Coastal CU.

Develop experiences and strategies across seed brands that support customer relationship growth.

  • Develop and implement marketing communications channel strategies that support the 3-crop strategy with Pioneer and PhytoGen seed brands' route-to-market in Coastal CU.

  • Serve as key liaison to Coastal Crop Protection marketing manager to identify seed and CP cross-sell opportunities within the Coastal CU.

  • Collaborate with the Coastal CU Communications Specialist to ensure marketing communications plans are successfully executed within region and deliver on the defined objectives.

  • Collaborate with Pioneer marketing communications managers on integrated brand messaging opportunities.

  • Work with the Pioneer Customer Experience marketing team to support new customer relationship growth initiatives across the US, collaborating with key stakeholders across internal marketing communications to build integrated marketing communications plans that may include multiple tactics and touchpoints.

Budget and resource management

  • Oversee an annual marketing communications budget.

  • Manage internal and external resources to execute marketing communications campaigns and tactics efficiently and effectively

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelors Degree in the field of advertising, communications, public relations, or journalism or equivalent experience.

Experience:

Five or more years within marketing communications, a communications agency or other professional experience, performing similar work with an emphasis on excellent writing skills and strategic planning. Cotton or retail route-to-market experience preferred.

Additional knowledge, abilities and skills required by this position:

  • Knowledge of production agriculture, agronomy and/or overall crop management.

  • Understanding of agriculture crop systems that include cotton and retail route-to-market preferred.

  • High degree of knowledge of information delivery platforms, including print media advertising and digital/social communications tools

  • Ability to analyze and compare different media alternatives.

  • Must have the ability to make sound, thoughtful judgments on the effectiveness, efficiency and impact of communications alternatives.

  • Must be a team player yet have the ability to think and work independently - see initiatives through from inception to execution.

  • Strong project management skills to navigate matrixed organizations.

  • Ability to travel approximately 15-25% of the time
