Position Title:Communications Assistant

Immediate Supervisor:Executive Director of Communications

Summary:Support the districts internal and external communication strategies by creating and implementing district communication initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:(Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Support the districts Executive Director of Communications with planning, implementing, and executing internal and external communication efforts.
  • Create compelling and engaging content for various channels including website, social media, newsletters, press releases and other platforms.
  • Help to identify high profile concepts, coordinate and capture photos and video to accompany stories, and ensure content meets established communication goals.
  • Create, implement, and optimize the agencys communications campaigns on appropriate social media platforms to ensure the agency is maximizing promotional and awareness opportunities in social and new media.
  • Help district staff respond to inquiries from staff and the public.
  • Capture district staff and district activities through still photos, video, and through written storytelling.
  • Support and attend district, staff and community special events including but not limited to LION Learning, receptions, ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, and open houses.
  • Support internal in-service training for staff on communication best practices.
  • Update district website and social media channels.
  • Track projects, media exposure and prepare reports summarizing impact of districts communications efforts.
  • Update databases, media lists, and provide other essential administrative support for the communications department.
  • Serve on assigned district committees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Minimum Education or Experience:

  • BA in public relations, communications, or related field, or a combination of education and/or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years working experience in communications.
