ALDEN COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT Shared K-6 Elementary Counselor in Alden, Iowa
Alden Elementary and Pineview Elementary are looking for an outgoing team member to serve as our Elementary Counselor. Located just over an hour north of Des Moines, Alden serves 165 students PS-6th in our small, but highly supportive community.
Alden Elementary takes pride in helping our CADETs, become better Communicators, demonstrate Accountability, make responsible Decisions, give Effort, and promote positive Teamwork. This role plays an integral part in helping students aquire and demonstrate these skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach SEL instructional lessons surrounding our CADET commitments to students
- Work closely with families, connecting them to needed community resources
- Conduct groups to address various student issues that help promote positive social and emotional development
- Actively participate in all building initiatives
- Supervise playground as needed to develop relationships and work with support staff
- Assist with staff development, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Be an activities participant of our MTSS team, including providing interventions to individuals and small groups
- Demonstrate effective communication with students, parents, staff, and community members
