Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Ames Laboratory is seeking applications for the position of Deputy Director of Accounting/Accountant IV. The Ames Laboratory is a Department of Energy funded national laboratory operated under contractual agreement with Iowa State University.

This position serves as the Deputy Director in Accounting within the Ames Laboratory and provides management and operations support to the Accounting Office. The position has significant responsibilities for policy development, annual process flow, staff development, Department of Energy (DOE) Contract compliance, quality control, and Environment Safety and Health directives within the Accounting Office. Responsibilities will also include the management of the financial information system and coordinate reporting using third party software.

The successful candidate will possess excellent oral and written communication skills, above average analytical skills; the ability to solve problems, develop new procedures, and work independently or as a member of a team. Strong math and computer skills to develop detailed, complex financial reports and analysis tools are essential for success in this position.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related experience.

Supervisory experience

Experience with Deltek Financial Management System software or similar systems

Master’s degree in related field
