Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

The Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition (FSHN) seeks applicants for a 9-month, full time, Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing. The position is a two-year term appointment with potential for renewal, and promotion in rank is possible. The RN-BSN program at Iowa State University is a unique environment with strong academic connections with faculty in nutritional sciences and dietetics. The RN-BSN is a two-semester, hybrid program with both in-person and online components. The position will involve on-campus instruction of nursing related courses with opportunities to use innovative teaching strategies. The ideal candidate will have experience in nursing program accreditation, undergraduate and graduate curriculum development and instruction, assessment of learning, program evaluation, and student advising. The position will assist in preparation of the ACEN accreditation site visit, contribute to curriculum and program design, development, and revision. Continued professional development, and service to the university, profession and community are expected.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

A doctoral degree in nursing or a related area with at least one post baccalaureate degree in nursing at the time of hire.

Two years experience in clinical nursing

Two years experience in nursing education.

Required Licensure(s)/Certification(s)

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Iowa or able to obtain an Iowa license upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in curriculum development.

Experience in multiple instructional delivery modalities.

Experience in nursing accreditation standards/criteria.

Experience with RN-BSN, prelicensure.

Experience with graduate education.

A demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity and inclusion.

Preferred Licensure(s)/Certification(s)

Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) or certification in area relevant to nursing program outcomes.

Department/Program & College Description:

FSHN is a comprehensive academic program with 40 faculty and 500 undergraduate majors in dietetics, nutritional science, food science, culinary food science and the RN to BSN. Our graduate programs include MS and PhD options in both Nutritional Sciences and Food Science and Technology, concurrent BS/MS in Diet and Exercise, and BS in Food Science/MBA as well as an online Masters in Dietetics. FSHN values student-centered learning and provides professional development opportunities related to instructional pedagogy, educational technology, and distance learning.
