Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Iowa Soybean Research Center (ISRC) is seeking applications for a 1/2 time Communications Specialist III position. This position provides communication support to further the mission of the Iowa Soybean Research Center (ISRC).

The Communications Specialist is responsible for preparing a quarterly e-newsletter, writing press releases, progress reports, research reports, grant proposals, non-technical proposals, brochures and other marketing materials, taking photographs, managing the ISRC’s website, and developing a social media presence for the center.

The successful candidate will have significant creative ability and will be self-motivated and possess outstanding writing, editing, and researching ability. Additionally, the candidate will have excellent judgement and decision-making skills, along with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. The incumbent will be able to work both independently and part of a team.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience in website development and design and in working with IT and/or outside vendors to create websites

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)

  • Experience which demonstrates photography and video production skills

  • Experience working with content management systems

  • Experience in higher education and agriculture

  • Editing, desktop publishing, or graphic design experience
