Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The College of Engineering at Iowa State University seeks qualified applicants for a Manager Information Technology I or II. This position will serve the college by providing information technology expertise and leadership. The Manager Information Technology II position will also be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic initiatives.

The Manager of IT will have primary responsibility for engaging the college-wide IT operations team and provide leadership and supervision to multiple direct and indirect reports. This position will be expected to provide collaborative leadership across the campus and university on projects and initiatives. Additionally, this position will identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of IT services.

The successful candidate will possess a broad knowledge of enterprise-level IT technologies and practices as well as strong leadership, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. This individual will have demonstrated IT-related leadership experience, a customer focused mindset and the ability to work well with a diverse population. All staff are expected to interact collegially and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethical behavior.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 2 years of related experience.

Supplemental Required Education and Experience

Manager Information Technology II requirements include: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience OR Master’s degree and 3 years of related experience

Preferred Education and Experience

• Degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related field • Experience in managing and leading staff • Experience with IT operations and experience or familiarity with enterprise software such as Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Group Policy, IT ticketing solutions, and/or VMware • Experience in collaboration for customer success
