Mary Greeley Medical Center MICS Coordinator in Ames, Iowa

The coordinator will be responsible for providing teaching and advisement to students in the Emergency Medical Technician and Emergency Medical Responder programs. The position will perform activities related to the Mary Greeley’s EMS Resource and Training Center which provides National Association of Emergency Technician’s and American Heart Association training to the community. The position is responsible for the overall coordination of MICS staff education, for maintain QA policies, and directing the QA/QI functions in conjunction with the medical director. The will report to the Director of MICS.
Unit Specific Position Responsibilities
Develop the policies, schedule and organizational structure of the EMR/EMT programs.
Makes changes in program structure, policies, faculty and schedule as needed to assure the program goals and objectives are met.
Regularly evaluates the effectiveness of the programs by review of student certification results, test exam results, clinical evaluations, and other aspects in cooperation with the medical director.
Communicate EMS trends/updates/changes to MICS Director, medical Director, faculty and preceptors.
Coordinate ongoing efforts to maintain State Authorization as a training center. Additionally, earn and maintain national accreditation status: maintaining all required documentation of criteria compliance.
Coordinate the National Registry Practical examinations.
Develop the syllabus and lesson plan for each course.
Schedule local and area outreach classes.
Assures all local, state and national requirements are met and maintained by completing reports in a timely manner.
Coordinate annual advisory board meetings to maintain dialogue in the community and with our clinical sites.
Review and approve CEU requests, and process paperwork from approved CEU classes.
Provide EMS continuing education classes regularly, as needed by the EMS services in the region.
Coordinate the overall direction of the NAEMT Training Center.
Participate in the marketing efforts offered by MGMC.
Coordinates the liaison program for local and regional first responders.
Responsible for the overall coordination of MICS staff education and training.
Responsible for maintaining QA policies.
Communicate expectations with MICS regarding QA/QI and continuing education.
Direct the QA and QI functions in conjunction with the medical director.
Organizes the yearly MICS Update conference.
Requires to work shifts and/or events as assigned or needed.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):
Active Iowa paramedic certification
Four years of field experience in EMS
EMS Instructor Endorsement
