BGM Community School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate Junior High/High School Special Education Teacher to join our well-established special education team. The ideal candidate will have experience or a willingness to obtain a Strategist II Endorsement, and will primarily serve students in grades 7-9 with Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and adaptive behavior goals.

Responsibilities:

• Individualized Education Plans (IEP): Write, implement, and monitor IEPs for all assigned students.
• IEP/Staffing Meetings: Schedule, organize, and lead IEP/staffing meetings as required.
• Parent Communication: Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students progress and interpret the school program.
• Professional Development: Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops. Maintain professional competence through district-provided in-service education activities and self-selected professional growth activities.
• Collaboration: Identify student needs and collaborate with other professional staff members in assessing and addressing health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Curriculum Development: Prepare course objectives, outline for course of study, and participate in curriculum development programs as required.
• Instruction: Develop lesson plans and instructional materials, provide individualized and small group instruction, and translate lesson plans into learning experiences tailored to each students needs.
• Assessment and Reporting: Evaluate students academic growth, maintain appropriate records, and prepare progress reports. Keep attendance and grade records as required.
• Classroom Management: Collaborate with General Education Teachers to help establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior, maintain discipline in the classroom, and counsel students when adjustment and academic problems arise.
• Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
