UnityPoint Health Application Administrator in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

The Application Administrator is responsible for the administration and overall support of the enterprise service management application. The position provides production and maintenance support, ensures high availability, project implementation, technical mentorship, process improvement, and quality assurance of the enterprise application environment.

This position will support ServiceNow Administration.

Operational System Support

  • Administer the IT service management infrastructure, including:

  • Pro-active performance monitoring, break-fix support (debug), and problem management for applications

  • Anticipate and plan application maintenance (e.g. upgrades, patch installation),

  • Perform and oversee configuration modifications and content updates, document system changes

  • Manage integrations with other systems that support automated feeds

  • Reviews vendor version upgrade specifications and performs integration tests on delivered enhancements and upgrades.

  • Assures compliance with federal, state, and local laws or regulations as directed by key stakeholders.

  • Understands regulatory requirements to better prepare the organization for voluntary accreditations.

  • Provides input into preparation of project plans and monitors own task schedule.

  • Works collaboratively with other IT group members and end users to ensure optimal application functionality.

  • Assists with training, development, and mentoring of staff.

  • Provides presentations to internal staff, and clients.

  • Plans, conducts, and documents proceedings of meetings as needed.

  • Provides timely and accurate documentation.

  • Provides night and weekend on-call coverage as scheduled. May assume additional on-call responsibilities as directed by Department Manager.

  • Works closely with other department teams to ensure efficient and effective implementation of project solutions.

  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance at work.

  • Adheres to all UnityPoint Health Personnel policies and procedures, departmental policies and Safety guidelines.

  • Behaves in a manner consistent with all Corporate Compliance policies and procedures.

  • Performs other duties as requested by Department Manager to facilitate the smooth and effective operations of the department.

  • Understands and supports Service Level Agreement for issues resolution. Participates in root cause analysis and problem solving activities to improve customer service.

  • Adheres to Change Management Policies and Procedures.

  • Understands and supports change request processes.

  • Acts as a mentor to other members of the department and/or team.

  • Ensures that all members of the team are adhering to implementation standards.

  • Works closely with the department Manager in developing new standards.

  • Portrays a highly proactive approach to projects. Is able to document tasks that need to be accomplished with little assistance of Manager.

Project Support

  • Acts as project lead as assigned by department manager.

  • Participates in and coordinates status meeting and conference calls as needed for assigned projects.

  • Provides project status reports on a regular basis for assigned active projects.

  • Completes special projects and monthly reports as assigned.

  • Acts as a Technical project lead on projects as assigned by manager.

  • Leads in the evaluation and consolidation of the project implementation process.

Education:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or direct and applicable work experience preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years as an application analyst or is able to demonstrate “Essential Functions and Responsibilities” as outlined above.

  • Experience with JavaScript, JSON, PowerShell, and LDAP queries.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the help desk and change control industry and related service management applications.

  • Demonstrated knowledge base and skill level in computer application methodology as it is used to automate health care business practices.

  • Understands computer system functionality, limitations, and architecture of supported applications.

  • Ability to work as a team member and in stressful environments.

  • Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures.

  • Requires highly developed communications and negotiation skills to effectively work with all levels of management throughout UnityPoint Health, its subsidiaries and affiliates.

  • Possesses excellent writing and verbal communications skills and the ability to understand and communicate concepts to technical and non-technical individuals.

  • Demonstrates an ability to coordinate and manage large, complex projects and be able to negotiate and build consensus among groups or individuals with diverse interests and function effectively as a team leader in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to understand and deal effectively with problems and opportunities which will arise in a complex multiprocessing environment

Preferred experience:

  • Knowledge of healthcare industry systems is highly desired.

  • Experience with or knowledge of Information Protection and Human Resources processes preferred.

  • Experience with or knowledge of Active Directory preferred.

  • Experience with and demonstrates competence in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Leadership experience is highly desired.

  • ServiceNow System Administrator Certification preferred.

Knowledge/Skills:
