BAE Systems in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Data Manager (DM).
This position qualifies for the Flex Work or Remote work arrangement. This means you may work remotely for up to 50% of the work week with the remainder of the work week being worked on-site in Cedar Rapids, IA. Final flex work arrangements must be approved by the hiring manager and are subject to change based on business needs.

Data management specialists assist and support the engineering team in planning, preparing, organizing, controlling, and submitting contractually required data. The work is guided by data management policies and procedures, and under the direction of the designated Configuration/Data Management (CDM) Lead and/or Team Supervisor. This fast-paced role is vital to the performance of a program throughout its lifecycle. Typical job responsibilities may include:
Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties set forth above.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Strong understanding of Microsoft Office products (Word, Power Point, Excel, Access).
Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, customers and suppliers in multiple geographic locations.
Utilize computer skills to prepare appropriate reports, metrics and documents.
Create DM bids for proposals for new contracts
Review contractual deliveries prior to submission, checking for accuracy, legibility, and adherence to contractual or Data Item Description (DID) requirements.
Make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations and provide guidance to team members regarding contractual and internal requirements.
Obtain and maintain access to various external government websites and resources to deliver contractual data.
Analyze, evaluate, develop and implement processes and systems within budget and adhere to schedules/deadlines
Collaborate with various other groups including Engineering, Program Management, Contracts Management, Configuration Management, Finance, etc.
Update, manage and maintain the CDRL database to ensure accuracy of records and troubleshoot as needed if issues arise
Provide frequent communication including reminders, reports and delivery schedules to internal and external personnel regularly and by request
Responsible for archiving contractual data deliveries and program plans in adherence with Record Retention Policies.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required to manage many different projects and different deadlines at a time
Provides oversight for internal program documents and data repository access and architecture
Handles company-sensitive, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and export-protected data on a regular basis
Availability to support program meetings as required
Other activities as directed by CDM Lead and/or Team Supervisor.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- B.S. degree, A.S degree with 2 years of experience with DM or support of customer deliveries, H.S. degree with 4 years of experience with DM or support of customer deliveries.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Experience reviewing and updating the Data Governance Policy, establishing, documenting, and implementing standardized data management practices, principles, and processes
Experience working with government contracts
Strong problem solving skills and ability to work independently with little direction
Experience with enterprise PLM tool (e.g, Enovia), Atlassian tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence)
Understanding of U.S. export laws as they pertain to exporting technical data
Security Clearance or ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
