VERIDIAN CREDIT UNION Mortgage Lending Underwriting Supervisor in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

The Mortgage Lending Underwriting Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of underwriting and quality control within the mortgage department. This position is responsible for the direct supervision of the underwriting and quality control team and ensures compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.* Oversee and monitor the quality of underwriting on first mortgages and combination second mortgage, provide timely feedback to underwriting staff on their quantity of loans, quality, and compliance with Veridian guidelines, secondary marketing guidelines, and applicable regulations.* Knowledgeable of all state, federal, Veridian, and investor mortgage related rules, regulations and guidelines to ensure they are adhered to throughout underwriting and quality assurance processes.* Manage the underwriting workflow to ensure the department's member service standards and timelines are met.* Responsible for Government loan insuring, involving reviewing closed Government loan packages, the issuance of the VA's Loan Guaranty Certificate and USDA's Loan Note Guarantee.* Provide assistance with second level reviews requiring analysis and understanding of complex income documentation.* Assist with the implementation of new Secondary Market Investors which includes providing training for underwriting staff on the Investor's guidelines/overlays.* Oversee and resolve systematic and/or operational issues with regard to loan integrity identified during Quality Control Audits.* Responsible for the oversight of the monthly QC file selections which meet GSE/Agency guidelines.* Review all random, discretionary and adverse loan selections including reverifications completed by Quality Control each month.* Complete monthly Management Summary Reports on all Pre-Closing and Post-Closing QC Audit results.* Work hand in hand with all areas of the mortgage lending process to ensure we are compliant with all Investors/Agency/Credit Union guidelines.* Provide administrative support for the various systems utilized throughout the mortgage lending area.* Participate in life-long learning opportunities such as educational workshops, conferences, seminars, classes, and meetings.* Assist lending management in setting guidelines and policy relating to underwriting and risk management.* Ability, availability, and willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate loan volume during periods of peak demand.* Deliver ongoing training to department employees in the areas of mortgage underwriting and quality control.* Provide on-going coaching to all team members that encourages personal, professional and career development. Clearly define expectations of all team members.* Interview and hire the most qualified applicant for position openings. Provide initial orientation and on-going support to team members on the mission, vision, values and leadership culture of the organization.* Plan and prepare for the future by being open minded, perceptive, and proactive.
