This opening is for a Senior Software Engineering position within the Display Foundation Software team of the Military Avionics, Common Platform Software organization located in Cedar Rapids, IA. This organization is responsible for developing and supporting real-time embedded software for numerous processing platforms used in our military and commercial avionics products - including our safety critical, civil certifiable, multicore processing environment.
Writing software requirements, software design and implementation, functional and integration testing and writing test cases / test procedures
Provide engineering leadership for all phases of a software engineering development project
Support accurate estimates for tasks
Interface with the hardware, application and systems engineering teams
Perform multiple tasks and be able to work with a variety of development and test tools
Mentor less experienced software engineers
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 7 years of relevant experience is required.
Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
Proficiency with modern software development best practices and configuration management tools
Experience in writing software requirements, software design and implementation, functional and integration testing and writing test cases / test procedures
Experience in software architecture, design and development using the C programming language
Candidates must be adaptable to change, determined to accomplish tasks based on program schedule, collaborative with teammates in order to make the best decisions, seek and implement development efficiencies, be self-motivated and contribute to a positive work environment. Candidates must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with safety critical software development processes (such as DO-178B/DO-178C Level A/B)
Experience with DOORS, SVN, and Atlassian Software Development tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo, JAMA, etc.)
Knowledge of bus protocols and standards (1553, 429, etc.)
Test Automation (Python) experience
Experience with real-time operating systems
