DescriptionStanley Consultants is currently seeking a talented, recognized, and driven individual for transportation systems design in our Cedar Rapids, IA office. The Transportation Engineer will provide engineering expertise for local roads, collector, and arterial streets and highway (rural and urban expressways) projects including: corridor development and environmental studies, right-of-way layout, drainage and utility systems, preliminary and final roadway design, preparation of construction documents and cost estimates.This position requires a working knowledge of municipal street and roadway design with an emphasis in location and design study development, final design, utility coordination, estimating, and project manual/specification development, Working knowledge of the Iowa Department of Transportation projects is a plus. Must be able to work effectively and communicate regularly with clients and federal, state, and local agencies. Must have the ability to build relationships with existing clients and assist in developing new municipal clients..Requires previous experience working on municipal or Iowa DOT projects and a proven track record of successful transportation project design. This position offers exciting challenges and opportunities for leading design teams, mentoring young staff engineers, and participating in professional organizations and technical committees. Essential duties include:Evaluates client needs and identifies requirementsPrepare and modify plans, specifications, reports, and designs for projectsOversee the preparation and production of reports, specifications, plans, and designs for projectsEvaluates the need for design changes and makes appropriate recommendationsServes as technical liaison with clients on project efforts and coordinate technical efforts within discipline areasParticipate in project scoping and fee estimating, and proposal preparation processOversee project tasks and sees the execution of tasks completed according to scheduleMeet with clients as necessary during the term of a project to resolve issues and to obtain approvals at the projects completionTrack internal project task schedules and budgetsAdheres to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manualRequirements:Bachelors of Science in Civil EngineeringPossess at minimum 6 years of relevant experience; Proficiency with SUDAS, or Iowa DOT design methods, standards, and specificationsProficient in MicroStation and Geopak SS4/OpenRoads or CIV3DProficient in roadway geometric designIowa Professional Engineer (PE) license is requiredExcellent technical writing skillsProven leadership, communication, mentoring and client liaison skillsA Great Place to Work: Become a MemberOnce you are hired at Stanley Consultants, you become a member of our member-owned company.
