ENVIRONMENTAL NURSING ASSISTANT/AIDEDepartment: iiiiiiiiiiiiii Nursing iiiiiiiiiii Supervisor: i iiiiiiiiiiiiiii Charge Nurse iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Director of Nursing: Shift: iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii iiiiiiiiiiiiiii Day, Evening, Night and Other ShiftsStatus: iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Non-ExemptEDUCATION: High school graduate or GED preferred.i All applicants must be at least 16 years old.i Nursing assistants must be able to read, write and follow written and oral instructions in English.i WORK EXPERIENCE:Previous experience as in a long-term care setting is desired, not required. CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Attendance at facility in-service sessions as designated by the Director of Nursing or the Administrator.i GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:An environmental aide is responsible for assistance in and out of the facility for the certified and licensed nursing staff.i Environmental aides are responsible for observing and reporting changes in residentsi physical and emotional conditions to the supervisors.i Excellent communication and team skills are needed.i May be required to work a variety of shifts depending on resident needs.i DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:iDistribute resident care supplies or linens as needed. Restock bathroom supplies.iAssist resident in caring for and securing personal articles, labeling clothing, etc.iChange bed linen.iBring dirty laundry (personal, linens and PPE) to appropriate receptacles outside the rooms.iEmpty trash cans.iRestock isolation cabinet drawers with appropriate PPEiEnsure isolation rooms have proper signageiAssist residents with before and after meal routines such as washing face and hands, transporting to and from the dining area or preparing bedside environment for in room dining. iProvide adequate hydration such as passing ice, fresh drinking water, and other fluids.iAssist residents in exercise group activities as instructed and supervised by a licensed nurse or certified nursing assistant.iAbility to conform to all rules and policies of this facility.iOther duties as assigned.i PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS: Lifting/Carrying Requirements: The Environmental Aide may be called upon to lift various items between 10 and 50 pounds.i Environmental Aides will infrequently be required to lift over 50 pounds. Sight Requirements: The Environmental Nursing Assistant is required to have vision corrected to average to assess and respond to resident needs.i Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Hearing Requirements: The Environmental Nursing Assistant is required to have normal range of hearing, as corrected and to respond to resident/staff/physician/family communication.i Socialization Requirements:The Environmental Nursing Assistant is required to work with all other persons in the facility and the ability to get along and socialize with others including residents and families is essential.i Good communication skills are required. Other Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the Environmental Nurse Assistant is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.i Will be called upon to frequently perform twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, or crouching when assisting with resident needs.i The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.iii Environment: iExposure to general resident care environment.Exposure to moderate temperature variations.Exposure to pharmacological preparations, biologicals, and potential biohazard materials including blood and other bodily fluids and medical sharp objects.i Frequent work interruptions occur.Exposure to moving equipment and machinery.Exposure to chemicals including cleaning and disinfecting solutions, etc.Must work well independently and as a team member.
