SUMMARY The primary purpose of the School Operations Manager (SOM) position is to manage school operations to enable the principal to focus on instructional leadership. The SOM develops systems within the school to limit principal time spent on management work; as well as trains and manages classified support personnel. The SOM serves as a first responder to student, staff, parent, and community needs. Under the direction of the building principal , the SOM manages and coordinates activities such as special events, transportation , duty schedules, school budget, school calendar, and building maintenance.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCERequired: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Business, Human Resources, or a related field. Preferred: Educational degree in teaching or administration and/or three to five years of experience in business management or educational management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meets with the principal daily to discuss instructional focus and school needs.

  • Acts as a first responder to student, staff ,parent , and community needs.

  • Assists willingly in potential Non-Violent Crisis Interventions utilizing the skills learned through CPI training in accordance with in Iowa Department of Education Regulations: Chapter103.

  • Assists willingly in the maintenance of student safety if student attempts elopement through skills learned through CPI training in accordance within Iowa Department of Education Regulations: Chapter 103.

  • Facilitates Medicaid documentation

  • Manages all non-instructional classified staff at the site.

  • Manages scheduling, special events, field trips, cafeteria, transportation, maintenance, playgrounds andcleaning.

  • Manages community use of the schoolsite.

  • Processes and fiscal affairs in accordance with state and system-wide accounting practices.? Assists the principal with managing school budget p

  • Helps create and implement theStandard Response Protocol (SRP) plan and processes.

  • Maintains inventories as appropriate for the management of the school.

  • In collaboration with school staff, monitors student attendance and coordinates efforts to improve student attendance.

  • Plans and coordinates to maintain a positive, safe learning environment for students by assisting with building supervision and student behavior management.

  • Promotes the school and District through positive relations with community, business, parents, and students.

  • Coordinates the maintenance of the physical facilities.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESSupervises non-instructional staff under the guidance of the principal.
