The successful candidate will: learn firsthand how water utilities support communities and provide resilience and sustainability; work with a team of professionals to assist with activities related to environmental management and water quality for assigned facilities; and assist with programs to ensure compliance with all water quality and environmental regulations. _ Key Accountabilities_ * Assist with monitoring and reporting programs to ensure compliance with federal and state water quality/environmental regulations and company standards. * Assist with advanced sampling and/or analysis of water. * Assist with water quality reports and records. * Assist with resolving water quality and treatment issues and water quality complaints. * Assist operations staff in water and wastewater facilities. _ Knowledge/Skills_ * Detail oriented to conduct thorough analyses and evaluations, render, and implement timely decisions and recommendations. * Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple projects and deadlines. * Ability to seek input/feedback and coordinate with staff. * Good communication skills. * Good working knowledge of computer programs, databases, and software to support specific assignments. * Demonstrated organizational and administrative skills. * Good analytical and problem-solving skills. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. _ Experience/Education_ * Enrollment in an Environmental or Science degree program from an accredited school. _ Other Requirements_ * Valid Driver’s License * Must be able to pass a background check. _ Hours_ * Flexible _ Competencies_ Champions safety Customer obsessed Cultivates innovation Nimble learning Drives Results Collaborates * Join American Water...We Keep Life Flowing™ * American Water is firmly committed to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and prohibits employment discrimination for employees and applicants based on his or her age, race, color, pregnancy, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, marital status, citizenship, or because they are an individual with a disability, protected veteran or other status protected by federal, state, and local laws.
