Use your strengths as Health Services System Configuration Analyst

In this role, you’ll serve as the administrator for system(s) specific to Health Services (e.g., Jiva) and will provide subject matter expertise regarding system functionality and configuration while supporting Health Services’ operational systems. You’ll configure business rules/requirements, including ID/Strat rule sets, business rules, letters, and maintenance of all corresponding documentation. This includes the identification and implementation of enhancements, upgrades and maintenance changes to systems to continuously improve and optimize workflow processes and capabilities. You’ll also support business level testing associated with major upgrades/enhancements, projects, and system conversions.

**This is a non-IT role that is a part of Wellmark’s Health Services department.


  • Bachelor’s degree or direct and applicable work experience.

  • 3+ years of system testing, configuration, troubleshooting, or related experience in a fast-paced environment, including:

  • Acting as a subject matter business/technology resource on one or more applications.

  • Analyzing data and utilizing reporting tools such as SAS, SQL, business objects, etc. Ability to query data and understand databases.

  • Engaging 3rd party vendors and technology support teams in troubleshooting issues.

  • Proficient technical acumen with the ability to learn new systems quickly. Advanced proficiency in technology support tools such as MS Excel.

  • Effective analytical, research and critical thinking skills. Creative approach to problem solving and troubleshooting issues.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Effectively shares complex information to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders and external vendors.

  • Experience documenting and optimizing workflows, business rule sets and system configurations.

  • Strong consulting skills demonstrated by the ability to understand needs/requirements, make business process/workflow recommendations, and influence stakeholder decisions.

  • Ability to collaborate across the organization and with key decision makers.

  • Attentive to details. Demonstrated commitment to accuracy and quality.

  • Proactive self-starter with effective time management skills and the ability to independently organize and prioritize projects or tasks. Flexible and adaptable to change.


  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Financial services or insurance industry experience, including knowledge of relevant regulations.

  • SAS or SQL experience is a plus.

  • Exposure to health services systems, (e.g., Jiva) including system configuration.

a. Serve as the system administrator for systems specific to Health Services. Includes all aspects of configuration of business code tables and rules, correspondence engine and templates, workflows and system roles/permissions supporting the business processes and requirements. Develop, maintain and document business knowledge of the applications and ID/Strat rules. Provide data validation of configuration output. Build configurations upon the approval of Health Services leadership.

b. Document, build and maintain configurations of Health Services system functionality. Apply knowledge and experience of Health Services programs through design, development, and maintenance of the systems including documentation. Perform administrator updates to the systems and portals as necessary.

c. Design, create and/or edit reports according to business requirements including configuration of business rules as necessary utilizing data warehouse business objects, PowerBI, SAS and/or SQL databases.

d. Serve as a backup business technical support contact with the systems vendors and technology build/run teams for business and technical questions. Keep up-to-date and informed regarding system and vendor changes and enhancements, updating the system library of release notes for business as usual project activity.

e. Develop and maintain documentation of the Health Services systems, including, but not limited to context diagrams, configuration rules / sets, business rules, and all integrations.

f. Prepare effort assessment including time, complexity and upstream/downstream impacts related to configuration requests. Provide configuration recommendations to leadership for approval. Maintain a professional demeanor and seek to create understanding when delivering decisions and information that is not in agreement with the requesting party.

g. Perform unit and system testing associated with system configuration and business rules. Support defect triage and fixes for business configurations across all environments. Develop and maintain library of vendors release notes along with assessment including value, complexity and upstream/downstream impacts for business as usual upgrades.

h. Comply with regulatory standards, accreditation standards and internal guidelines remain current and consistent with the standards pertinent to Health Services.

i. Other duties as assigned.
