Principal IT-Business Analyst III in Des Moines, Iowa

Income Solutions helps customers new to Principal, as well as former participants leaving our retirement plans take control of their retirement savings and risk protection needs.

Our Income Solutions area is looking for an experienced technology liaison between our IT teams and business areas. In this role, you'll understand business needs and be part of the team providing technology solutions. You'll also help drive critical initiatives, position work accurately with scrum teams, and recommend process improvements.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Understand business architecture and ties to support business strategy.

  • Conduct preliminary understanding of business needs, clarify user requirements, evaluate present system and analyze alternative approaches and design solutions. This may include assisting in the development of impact assessments.

  • Assist with functional and procedural requirements gathering, update business models and rules, provide input for detailed data models and flow diagrams, and develop acceptance criteria and test plans.

  • Develop and share best practices and facilitate improvements. Develop and execute training on completed solutions for business partners, as requested. Actively communicate with business partners on business process and system changes or problems.

  • Contribute to the improvement of existing business process and system changes and research, identify and resolve system and business problems.

  • Participate in business process and decision management modeling, following industry standard notations (e.g. BPMN & DMN) and drive the technical detail to enable automation. while capturing current state and with guidance, propose vision state, recommendations, and interim business state.

  • Identify data needs for process metrics and ongoing management of process health.

  • Lead business analysis for business process and system changes.

  • Maintain vendor relationships and build awareness of industry trends and vendor sustainability.

  • Participate in the selection of new tools and methodologies; may recommend and assists in figuring out how to implement tools and methodologies.

  • Contribute to organizational learning involving some leading, mentoring, and coaching others.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of related work experience, including:

  • Acting as liaison between technology and business units

  • Driving critical initiatives

  • Identifying key processes

  • Excellent communication skills with both IT professionals and business partners

  • Ability to influence and consult with front-line team members to senior leaders and vendors

  • Strong planning, analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills

Preferred qualifications

Salesforce experience/exposure

Understanding of the Agile methodology
