Overview

Local and state leaders created the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority, or DART, out of the Des Moines Metropolitan Transit Authority, or MTA, in 2006. The move has enabled the agency to begin evolving into a more regional transit system.

DART is the largest public transit agency in Iowa, serving 14 member governments, including Alleman, Altoona, Ankeny, Bondurant, Clive, Des Moines, Granger, Grimes, Johnston, Pleasant Hill, Polk County, Urbandale, West Des Moines and Windsor Heights.

Position Summary:

The RideShare coordinator leads the day-to-day operations of the RideShare department to provide DART’s vanpool options throughout the state of Iowa. The position manages the fleet of vehicles; coordinates maintenance on these vehicles, assists in recruiting efforts to help more individuals; assists customers with any questions or concerns; and ensures accurate and timely reporting, paperwork and billing.

Essential Functions of this Position:

  • Provide excellent customer service to current, past and potential customers.

  • Ensure customer and vanpool files and accounts are accurate and up-to date utilizing Microsoft Excel, CRM database, and online reporting software.

  • Perform driver training to help train volunteer drivers on policies and regulations relevant to operating a RideShare van. Also perform yearly driving record checks on all drivers.

  • Make collection calls and e-mails to delinquent customers.

  • Collect monthly log sheet information and transpose into Excel document for NTD reporting.

  • Pull daily reports that include; communication to new potential riders about our services, possible vanpool opportunities, customer billing statements, reconciliation of contracts, billing and payments.

  • Work with customers to repair and/or replace vehicles as needed.

Communicate to potential riders and active riders to familiarize them with our services and to help grow our program.

  • Responsible for assisting customers with vehicle exchanges due to accidents or other urgent and time sensitive situations.

Additional Responsibilities of this Position:

  • Rotate fleet of vehicles with established routes to maintain fleet management.

  • Contact vendors or dealerships to coordinate maintenance on vehicles, possible loaner vehicle distribution if required, and guaranteed ride homes as needed.

  • Perform van inspections to make sure they are all clean, have required materials in van and do not have any damage.

Education and/or Experience:

  • 2 years’ experience in project management or related field, college degree preferred.

  • Experience with; Customer Service, project management, data entry, and Microsoft Office.

  • Must be proficient in Excel

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

Knowledge of:

  • Computers – Both desktop and laptop.

  • Microsoft office – Excel, Outlook, Access, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Operations of an automatic transmission motor vehicle – How to drive and fill up gas tank.

  • How to use a mutli-purpose printer/fax/scanner and a desktop phone and IPhone (Cell phone)

  • Will be required to monitor and respond to after-hours calls/voicemails as needed.

  • Attention to detail – Must notice, manage and keep track of details of contracts, invoicing and more

  • Multitask – Have the ability to work on multiple items at one time and complete tasks in timely manner. Prioritize said tasks to meet deadlines while still having tasks done correctly.

Also includes molding your still to help ease your clientele understanding of what you are trying to explain.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

Position may help supervise and/or direct any temporary help.

Physical Demands:

On a normal work day, this position requires: Lifting up to 50lbs, driving a motor vehicle, reaching for items, standing, operating a computer on regular basis, sitting at a desk or office setting and typing on computer frequently. Work Environment:
