Principal Financial Group Senior Internal Auditor / Audit Manager in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

Do you have experience in asset management/mutual fund business and/or audit/risk background and a desire to join a team that makes a difference in a dynamic part of our business?

As a Senior Internal Auditor or Audit Manager on the Internal Audit & Risk Consulting team you will manage and deliver audit engagements from planning through to completion.

The selected candidate will:

  • Gain exposure to various aspects of the asset management business; working closely within audit teams and with key contacts to develop detailed audit plans to assess and validate the effectiveness of controls that help support key business objectives.

  • Lead and support audit activities and reviews in accordance with accepted professional standards and audit methodologies including assessing key risks impacting overall business objectives aligned with business unit and enterprise strategic plans.

  • Build and maintain strong business relationships with key contacts/leaders from the business to develop in-depth knowledge of certain aspects of the business and the dynamics impacting their operations.

  • Maintain communication within the audit team and with key contacts/leaders from the business regarding status and progress of the audit including scope of work, planned areas of audit testing and results of audit work.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • 5+ years of experience resulting in knowledge of asset management / mutual funds and/or understanding of audit, risk, and control concepts

  • Critical thinking, digital/data analytic capabilities, project management and organizational skills that enable effective work within a dynamic team environment

  • Ability to communicate with various levels in the organization, including listening, verbal, and written skills.

  • Strong business acumen with a depth and breadth of knowledge and understanding across key aspects of business operations in support of credibility, relationship management and impact of audit work

  • Experience with data analytics and/or technology a plus

  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other professional designations a plus, pursuit of internal audit certification will be encouraged and supported within the role

  • Some limited travel will be required to perform onsite audits in some of our US and international locations

Job level

We are considering candidates for both the Senior Internal Auditor and Audit Manager levels depending on experience.

Location(s)

This position will be located in our Des Moines, IA office.

Work Environments

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with staff working together in-office three to four days a week. .

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$86450 - $144400 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.
