Medical Associates has an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic leadership team. The Director of Clinical Services position, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer-Clinic, is responsible for the overall direction, leadership, management and performance

of 7 departments comprising 10 specialties across multiple locations within a large, physician-owned multi-specialty group practice. The position provides direct leadership and operational support to 5 direct and 2 indirect management reports, and greater

than 50 physicians/APPs and 120 support staff in the following specialty areas: ENT, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Optical Services, Orthopedics, Rheumatology, Physical Medicine, Podiatry, and Therapy (PT/OT).

Role: Responsible for the administrative leadership, management and supervision of all Primary or Specialty clinical departments and other areas as assigned. Provide leadership and support to Clinical Department leads, supervisors and managers, and direct strategy

development for the assigned clinical areas.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Direct and oversee the selection, training, development, performance evaluation, and performance issues for all direct reports and departmental staff. Oversee the accuracy and appropriate delivery of services in assigned areas indirectly through the supervision

of others. Assist direct reporting staff in problem solving and provide counsel and direction. Direct the development and implementation of performance standards and goals for nursing, clinical and other staff in assigned areas, and implement and monitor systems

to assure appropriate staffing and skills for delivery of high quality care and maintenance of an excellent patient service environment in assigned areas. Provide leadership and management development and succession planning within all assigned areas.

Provide leadership in operational strategy development and implementation of new and existing departments, services, medical practices, processes and information systems. Provide leadership to ensure quality care and an excellent patient experience. Ensure

achievement of key organizational objectives in assigned areas.

Direct the development (of new) and performance improvement (of existing) systems and processes enabling productivity and financial improvement in assigned areas. Lead operational plan development, budget development and oversight, and participate in facilities

planning and development for assigned areas. Responsible for budgets and financial performance of assigned areas, under the direction of the Chief Operating Office. Provide input into coding and fee schedule maintenance for services in assigned areas.

Serve as a liaison to Medical Associates Clinic (MAC) physician/APP professional staff, other departments, and other business partners in assigned areas; resolve conflicts and complaints as necessary. Act as an internal consultant to various MAC committees,

and as a business representative for MAC in the disciplines of assigned areas. Facilitate the resolution of intra departmental and inter-departmental issues both within and outside direct reporting relationships. Facilitate the development and enforcement

of MAC policies and procedures.

Provide for the development of patient and employee education programs. Provide management training and development programs.

Assure that risk management activities are ongoing within assigned areas, including but not limited to: credentialing, compliance, incident reporting, and equipment safety. Identify risk management issues related to the clinical departments and facilitate development

of a plan for control of the risk. Respond to all formal patient complaints regarding assigned areas.

Prepare administrative reports monthly and annually as required.

Complete all other assigned projects and duties.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience: Five years to ten years of similar or related experience.

Education: Equivalent to a college degree. Masters degree preferred.

Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job.

Other Skills: A clinical physician outpatient practice background is preferred. A strong understanding of clinic area work flows and processes is required. Good written and verbal communication skills, and a teamwork orientation are required. Strong analytical

and quantitative skills are preferred.

Physical Aspects

Reaching - Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

Lifting - Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

Fingering - Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.

Grasping - Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

Talking - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.

Hearing - Perceiving the nature of sound with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.

Vision - 20 / 40 or better in the best eye with or without correction.

Repetitive Motions - Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for

Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
