FTE: .90 (Full-time, 36 hours per week)
Shift: Monday-Friday 11am-11pm with every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation
Assists with patient care activities as directed by the registered nurse.
Assists patients at check-in. Arriving them in EPIC, obtaining vital signes and screening questions.
Demonstrates competence in the clinical skills necessary to carry out assigned job duties.
Assists provider and other clinical staff with obtaining basic vital information. Preparing patients for examination, treatment and minor procedures.
Assists in placing patients in hospital gown and connecting them to the cardiac monitor.
Assists with suturing, splinting, wound care and dressings
Assists with minor surgical procedures.
Assists with pelvic exams and obtains specimens as directed
Administers medications within their scope and competency as directed by Registered Nurse
Transports patients as directed to radiology, CT, inpatient units
Assists with discharge of patitents as directed.
Assists with arranging follow up care for patients as directed
Delivers and/or obtains supplies/specimens to Radiology, Pharmacy, Lab and Central Sterile, Mailroom
Completes environmental tasks as assigned.
Completes terminal cleaning of discharge rooms and readies room for next patient.
Cleans and returns equipment to proper storage place.
Initiates work orders for Biomedical and Buildings and Groundsvia Intranet workorder request process.
Performs duties following unit and nursing standards.
Communicates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure coordination of services with other departments.
Participates in unit operations demonstrating professional behaviors to include supporting goals of nursing unit and maintaining awareness of resource utilization.
Participates in non-direct patient care activities including educational activities, performance improvement activities, and other related activities.
Demonstrates positive customer relation skills.
High School Graduate or GED
Current CME certification for Certified Medical Assistant and AAMA certification.
Certified Medical Assistant
Completion of American Heart Association Arrythmia course upon hire.
Ability to exercise good judgement, maintain good interpersonal relationships and adapt to change. Ability to spell correctly, write or print legibly, speak clearly, use correct grammar. Ability to organize work. Requires knowledge of basic medical terminology. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to interact appropriately and perform clerical services for infant, child, adolescent and adult patients.
Office equipment, paper supplies, handles patient care supplies and medications.
