POSITION SUMMARY

Compliance Assistant position is available at our office in Fort Dodge, IA. This position will provide support to our Asphalt Paving and Pavement Maintenance divisions by working with applicants, employees, and managers to ensure compliance with company, local, state, and federal rules, policies, and regulations regarding safety, environmental, and DOT.

The Compliance Assistant will:

  • Provide entry level safety monitoring and reporting

  • Review environmental compliance at jobsite, shop, plant, and pit

  • Monitor DOT and FRA drug testing protocol, employment verification, and reporting compliance. Monitor company DOT score

Work directly with Division Managers and collaborate with Corporate Compliance Managers.

Seeking a highly organized, energetic, detail-oriented individual who enjoys interacting with staff and clients performing a variety of tasks. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental rules and regulations

  • Ensure compliance with all DOT rules and regulations

  • Monitor day to day safety and environmental compliance at jobsite, plant, and pit

  • Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) reviews

  • Schedule quarterly drug and alcohol testing and tracking drug and alcohol clearinghouse data

  • Coordinate drug testing program(s)

  • Assist with maintaining driver files and database

  • Assist with training

  • Conduct investigations and perform root cause analysis

  • Implement corrective actions

  • Assist with job hazard analysis

  • Run project reports to track metrics

  • Confidentially handle sensitive information

  • Other tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with safety, environmental, or DOT compliance or an equivalent combination of education and training preferred

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations a plus

  • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA drug testing a plus

  • High school diploma/GED preferred

  • Problem solving and critical thinking

  • High level of detail orientation and multitask

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, JJ Keller

  • Strong written and Verbal communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Able to work independently and interact with all levels of personnel
