       The Glenwood Community School District is currently accepting applications for an Anticipated- Health Aide at Northeast and West Elementary for the 2024-2025 School Year. Starting Wage: $20/hr with RN cert. $17/hr with LPN cert. $14.82/hr with CNA or CMA cert. $13.35/hr with no cert.

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: SCHOOL HEALTH AIDE

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Current certification in CPR and First Aid

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Successful completion of Medication Administration in Iowa Schools course

REPORTS TO: School Nurses and Principals

JOB GOAL: To work cooperatively and acquire skills that are needed to assist the School Nurse in providing health care services for students/staff. Establish good rapport and be sensitive to the health needs of children and adults.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attendance is necessary to be successful in this position.

  • Performs minor first aid to the ill and injured following established procedures for care and reporting of injuries and illness.

  • Communicates with School Nurse for the care of major illness, serious injury, or for any pupil who appears to need professional care or follow up. Communicates necessary health information to to appropriate school personnel, parents/guardians and community.

  1. Assists with maintaining and filing health office records and computer data entry.

  2. Receives and relays telephone messages pertaining to individual student health concerns.

  3. Communicates and obtains guidance from the School Nurse when in doubt as to what action should be taken in any health office matter.

  4. Accurately dispenses and records daily student medications.

  5. Assists the School Nurse in collection, recording and maintenance of school health related records.

  6. Assists the School Nurse in scheduling and performing routine screening procedures. Examples, vision, hearing, dental screenings, etc.

  7. Records health office visits,student symptoms and care and/or medications given.

  8. Maintains confidentiality in accordance with state and federal laws and district policy.

  9. Maintains competency through training and professional development educational activities.

  10. Maintains current certifications.

  11. Other duties as assigned by the School Nurse.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Work year and salary to be established by the Board of Education

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Master Contract and the Board’s policy on evaluation of Classified Support Staff
