The candidate will join a progressive and growing psychiatry division. The overall philosophy of this academic division is the provision of comprehensive patient-centered care in our inpatient and outpatient settings, in a variety of unique subspecialty practice settings within our healthcare system.Appointment will be on the non-tenure clinical track, open rank. The position is a 1.0 FTE and consists of 80% clinical time and 20% academic time. 10% of clinical time will be allocated to clinical services for crisis services and supporting psychiatric patients in the Emergency Room.The Department of Psychiatry is recruiting a psychologist to join an interdisciplinary team to provide coordinated care to children, adolescents and young adults with co-morbid mental illness, Intellectual Disability (ID), and challenging behaviors. The psychologist will be responsible for providing outpatient therapy and ongoing education and consultation to patients, their care providers, and hospital staff to maximize community capacity to maintain these patients in the outpatient setting. Therapy may include individual, family, or group therapy models.The psychologist will help with diagnoses of possible psychiatric illnesses in the context of a developmental disability. Health information technology, including video teleconferencing, will enhance care transitions and continuity of care. Administrative duties will include program development, participation in departmental and division meetings, and inservice sessions. The psychologist will collaborate with members of the interdisciplinary treatment team and provide clinical supervision and teaching to medical students, residents, fellows, and psychology graduate students. We will work closely with the candidate to optimize his/her time to work in any preferred area of interest.The UI Department of Psychiatry has a long tradition of excellence in research, a well-developed research infrastructure, and ample patient populations that support efforts in a variety of areas of investigation.
