TheCommunications Specialist IIwill work alongside the Communications & Publications Manager to support a wide range of ACTNext communications efforts, including social media, print collateral, websites, event programming, and scientific publications. This includes opportunities to contribute to challenging and varied communications projects, leveraging creative expression with editorial, marketing and communication strengths in a dynamic and rewarding environment, all with the focus of contributing to the ACTNext communications strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Edit, proofread, and maintain quality control of scientific papers, business communications, and social media posts

  • Contribute broadly to ACTNext media workflow (which includes website updates, content creation, blogs, social media posts, print collateral)

  • Apply consistent editorial and brand standards regarding style and format across media

  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and platforms regarding social media communications

  • Analyze social media landscapes to write and direct copy at various audience segments

  • Contribute to content development and updating of ACTNext.org

  • Collaborate with researchers/authors/editorial staff to ensure scientific meaning is preserved in ACTNext communications

  • Manage priorities and maintain schedules under tight deadlines

  • Recognize and edit technical terms and jargon for various audiences.

  • Examine final products for accuracy, consistency, and quality

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related area required; preferably in Journalism, Mass Communications, or Marketing

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in aJournalism, Mass Communications, or Marketingcommunications type of environment, or related

  • Experience developing and executing tactical communications using a variety of technology resources and systems

  • Experience with WordPress, Adobe CC, social media management platforms and html preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in an editorial environment where long-term projects compete for priority with short-term moving targets and evolving priorities.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate with a small yet dedicated team of talented professionals.

  • Familiarity with WordPress, Adobe CC and social media management platforms

  • Working knowledge of html

  • Basic understanding of Google analytics and social media metrics

  • Familiarity with a broad array of style manuals and how to apply them

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Innovative thinker

  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding corporate information
