The Division of Hematology-Oncology and Blood and Marrow Transplantation within the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa-Carver College of Medicine and the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking to hire a physician-scientist for an appointment as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in the tenure or clinical track (non-tenure track). The applicant would serve as the first Director of Medical Oncology Outcomes Research. Salary is based on experience and qualifications.The successful candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S.

The Director of Medical Oncology Outcomes Research will employ a multi-faceted approach to analyze outcomes data from a clinical and patient experience centered perspective. Engaging pharmacy, providers, and researchers in the resolution of complex issues, recommending, and implementing outcomes-based treatment models. Prioritize resources and research activities within the process of managing patterns of care in clinical practice.

Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.

Education Requirement:

The successful candidate must have an MD degree or equivalent.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate evidence of advanced training in the areas of medical oncological and outcomes research including expertise in health economics research, epidemiology, biostatistics, cost- effectiveness, shared medical decision making, or another related methodology. In addition, candidates must have evidence of a commitment to clinical teaching, clinical research, and patient care experience in medical oncology. Completion of an ACGME-accredited Residency Program is required. Demonstrated experience promoting a diverse workforce/academic environment is also required. Individuals hired at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher are expected to have a strong record of peer-reviewed publications and an established track record of independent research funding.

Desirable Qualifications:

Candidates with a history of successful mentorship would be preferred.
