Prelude Behavioral Services Outpatient Counselor in Iowa City, Iowa

DescriptionAt Prelude Behavioral Services, we are committed to enhancing the quality of life for patients seeking substance use disorder treatment through accessible behavioral health services and by believing in the possibilities of change for all we serve.Outpatient Counselors at Prelude Behavioral Services provide treatment services to adult patients with substance use and/or gambling concerns, in an outpatient clinical setting. Counselors in this role will be joining a dedicated team of behavioral services professionals, committed to providing the highest quality of care to our patients.Key responsibilities:Treats patients through individual, group and/or family counseling sessions and development of case plans. Provides continuity of treatment to patients returning to the community from institutions.Completes appropriate evaluations on patients discharged from treatment. Performs periodic review of goals and objectives and prepares written summary of patient progress.Coordinates patient and outreach activities within agency and regulatory guidelines.Maintains patient records per agency standards and completes all required forms as specified by agency policy. Complete online and paper form data reporting requirements in an accurate and timely manner.RequirementsBachelor's degree in social work, psychology or other human services related field is required. Current Iowa Substance Abuse Counselor Certification (CADC or IADC) is required. Temporary certifications can be considered. One year of experience, preferably in the substance abuse field is desired. Excellent verbal and written communications skills, organizational skills and attention to detail required.Candidates must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment drug screen prior to beginning employment. A valid driver's license and good driving record are required for this role.There are 2 schedules currently available, candidates must be able to routinely work one of the following schedules:Monday-Friday daytime hours, with 1-2 evenings each week available to provide patient group servicesTuesday and Thursday 12p-8p, Wednesday and Friday 9a-5p, and Saturday 9a-1piSalary and BenefitsCandidateis pay will be commensurate with experience and education.
