MidWestOne Bank Private Banking Specialist in Iowa City, Iowa

This is a hybrid role encompassing both sales and service for private banking clients. Approximately half time to be devoted to business development activities and a book of clients to promote, refer and sell all banking, trust and investment products and services for high net worth clients. Is available to private client group clients 24/7 for banking needs, requests, assistance and service. Half time is to provide administrative and operational support for the private banking team, including account paperwork on platform and service support for private banking with mastery of procedures and processes for supporting these clients. Assists using OneView and other database tools. Assists in coordinating private banking events and communication.

+ + Develops and utilizes a portfolio of designated products and services focused on the needs of target markets. Manages sales activities independently, documenting activities through call report, attending sales meetings, collaborating with other members of the team and other lines of business.

  • Promotes and sells new business through proactive development of banking products and relationships with assigned accounts and target markets.

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with key community contacts which enhance business development.

  • Participates in call blitzes, sales meetings, profiling of customers and prospects, business development calls, referrals, tracking, submittal of reports, etc.

  • Actively engages in on-the-job learning in order to expand knowledge of other lines of business referral opportunities; demonstrates an ability to deepen relationships with a book of clients.

  • Follows up on customer leads as requested.

  • Opens checking, savings, certificate of deposits and IRA accounts and non-traditional banking products which meet the customers’ needs while cross-selling other MWO services to enhance the customer relationship. Closes accounts as needed.

  • Plans, creates and executes marketing efforts for private banking such as obtaining client lists, creating client outreach campaigns, helping analyze client data, etc.

  • Plans, creates and executes operational efforts for private banking such as developing policies and procedures, helping with training of tellers and personal bankers for how to work with private banking clients, etc.

  • Coordinates account maintenance by working closely with customer service and operations in order to provide timely and streamlined service for private banking clients whenever possible.

  • Answers phones for private banking department and helps customers as able or refers on to the appropriate private banker.

  • Handles a variety of customer service requests involving account relationships and may be asked to meet with customers at other locations besides the downtown office.

  • Contacts customers about maturing CD’s, lines of credit, or other services in order to proactively build the client relationship.

Other duties may be assigned

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related banking experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
