Description

Our Johnston location is searching for a Full Time Kitchen Assistant. This individual will be responsible for ordering, storing and preparing meals and snacks for the children in our childcare programs.What You'll Do

  • Take inventory of pantry food and supplies

  • Order food items and supplies within a monthly budget

  • Plan food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food are preserved

  • Modify textures of food

  • Follow food safety guidelines and Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines, including taking temperatures and documenting

  • Collect all soiled dishes and food service items for sanitation

  • Maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness: follows infection control guidelines, wears gloves as needed

  • Demonstrate effective conflict resolution, team building and positive communication skills when interacting with others

  • Complete Child and Adult Care Food Program and other food documentation accurately and within established timelines

What You'll Need

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Preferred: 1 year of experience in commercial food preparation

  • Preferred: Must have basic knowledge of kitchen sanitation and safety; general knowledge of Child and Adult Food Program

  • Must be able to pass a ChildServe physical examination at commencement of employment and thereafter as regulations require

  • Requires excellent physical stamina; much bending, standing, walking, pushing carts, lifting and carrying 50 pounds short distances, exposure to heat and steam and frequent contact with water and cleaning or disinfecting solutions

  • Must be able to work with cleaning solutions and kitchen equipment

  • Must be able to withstand exposure to the usual childhood diseases and conditions associated with children with special health care needs

  • Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking the English language

Schedule:

  • Full Time

  • 30 hours per week with benefits

  • Monday-Friday: 8:00 am-2:30pm
