Corteva Agriscience is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scientist to join our Enabling Transformational Technology (ETT) team of Core Technologies Group in Johnston, Iowa. ETT’s primary function is focused on scientific invention and technology innovation. Our research interests expand from single cell technologies, high throughput genotyping and portable genotyping technologies to microfluidic instrumentational development. In this role, you will work with highly dynamic cross-functional teams and become a real-world problem solver to provide cutting-edge solutions for plant breeding and crop protection. This role presents an excellent opportunity for candidates who have a passion for applied industrial research and like being in an innovative environment, who are eager to take a multidisciplinary approach for solving technical challenges, and who deliver on projects while maintaining a learn forward attitude.

Responsibilities – How will you help us grow?

  • Develop single cell technologies for molecular diagnostics, molecular delivery and cell processing.

  • Strong knowledge and experiences in genomics, data processing, and statistical data analysis.

  • Deep understanding of gene regulation mechanism in RNA-related technologies such as RNASeq, single cell RNASeq and other RNA expression technologies, RNA stability and localization, in vitro translation, post transcriptional modification. Skills in RNA molecular design and gene expression analysis.

  • Strong knowledge in protein regulation and experience in protein diagnostic technologies such as ELISA, Western blot and mass spectrometry. Skills in protein molecule design and expressing proteins in eukaryotic systems.

  • Bioengineering experiences that related to microfluidic single cell technologies are highly desirable.

  • Experiences in plant and animal single cell and tissue culture, and gene editing are preferable.

  • Understanding industrial discovery and development process and experiences in project management principles.

  • Responsibilities for executing experimental protocols, recording observations, and data management.

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and technical writing skills required.

  • Must be reliable, self-motivated, persistent, and have the ability to work effectively both alone and in teams.

  • Proactively upholding Corteva’s core values and compliance with best laboratory practices is expected.


Requirements – What will you bring to the table?

  • PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Genomics or related scientific fields with experiences in novel technology development.

  • Ability to work with standard molecular biology and tissue culture laboratory setting.

  • Ability to design, execute, process and interpret experiments.

  • Ability to work as a member of a team with diverse skill sets and experiences.

  • Innovative spirit, able to take the initiative, learn fast, and be people- and logistics-oriented.
