The role of a Group Respite Nurse is to provide nursing support and oversight to 10-12 children in a team environment. Group Respite takes place on the weekends where you get to have fun interacting with the children while providing specialized nursing cares. ChildServe’s respite service allows parents to attend events for their other children, schedule appointments for themselves, or simply take time to recharge.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide nursing support, rehabilitative needs, and preventative care in a ratio of 1:3 at the ChildServe Center

  • Apply professional knowledge and skills, in accordance with accepted standards of clinical practice, to facilitate problem resolution, and the achievement of individualized clinical goals and outcomes

  • Interact with the children and participate in fun activities

  • Complete electronic documentation and paper MARS

  • Possible skills used: medication administration, g-tube nutrition, seizure management, trach cares, etc.

When You’ll WorkTwo weekends a month (NO HOLIDAYS) Group services start Friday 6pm through Sunday 6pm. Shifts are typically 8-12 hours.

What You’ll Need

  • Graduation of accredited nursing program

  • Current valid RN/LPN license in Iowa

  • Valid driver’s license/insurance for three consecutive years without suspension

  • Experience working with children with special health care needs preferred

  • Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
