Johnston Community School District Substitute Food Transport Driver in Johnston, Iowa

POSITION SUMMARY: To safely and efficiently transport food and other nutrition department items to designated transport schools and sites to assure highest food quality possible.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Ability to lift heavy loads not to exceed 50 lbs

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

  • Valid Iowa commercial driver’s license (CDL) required

  • Possess good collaborative and interpersonal skills

Successful completion of a criminal background check and physical capacity profile test will be required upon offer.

    Professional Performance Criteria

  • Operates transport truck in manner that insures safety of food, equipment, personnel, and students

  • Loads and unloads all items being sent to transport schools quickly and in a sanitary manner

  • Correctly stores food items in storerooms, refrigerators, and freezers

  • Maintains clean interior of transport truck

  • Makes pick up and deliveries inside and outside the school district as requested by supervisor

  • Reports all non-working equipment to appropriate supervisor

  • Performs general maintenance of transport truck on weekly basis. This includes fueling and checking oil, tires, lights, and other safety equipment.

  • Duties and responsibilities as requested by supervisor may vary from time to time

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Substitutes are called and used on an “as needed basis” with no guarantee of hours or days.
