Johnston Community School District Swim Instructor in Johnston, Iowa
Position Summary: Teach American Red Cross swim lessons.
Responsibilities:
Teaching swimming techniques, swimming strokes, and water safety rules to students with varying swimming abilities.
Assisting more experienced swimmers to enhance their swimming abilities.
Assessing the progress of students and adjusting teaching programs accordingly.
Monitoring students to prevent accidents and injuries.
Implementing ground rules for each swim session.
Planning swimming lessons that take into account students’ abilities and progressive development.
Identifying incorrect swimming techniques and correcting students accordingly.
Keeping work area clean and prepared for class.
Attend all assigned meetings and in-services.
Perform other such duties and function as are necessary or incidental to the proper performance of this position.
Experience:
Must be at least 16 years old.
American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR-PR preferred.
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor preferred.

Evenings
Weekends
Day-time hours (Summer)
Part-time, hours will vary
Pay Rate
- Starting $14.00/hr, increases with experience
