Lauridsen Group Inc. Production Supervisor - Essentia - Lytton - Night Shift in Lytton, Iowa

NOTE: Position Hours: 5:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. 3 Days On; 3 Days Off; 2 Days On; 2 Days Off

The Production Supervisor leads all activities of assigned team, including safety, quality, fulfillment, cost, and inventory. This position is responsible for ensuring all critical business aspects related to the assigned team while clearly communicating information to plant leadership. This role ensures production of a quality product, processing in accordance with mandated regulations, current Good Manufacturing Procedures (cGMP) and established company procedures.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)/high school equivalency test (HiSET). 2 or 4-year college degree preferred.

Experience:

Minimum five years’ experiences in manufacturing; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Minimum three years of leadership experience required. Leadership in a food processing environment is preferred.

Continuous improvement experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Lead through the Essentia Values of teamwork, respect, agility, creativity, and knowledge, and model the associated behaviors. Manage assigned team members in performance of their duties. Establish and monitor individual and team goals which are aligned with the organization’s business strategies and objectives and ensure department is properly serving its internal and external customers and meeting defined expectation.

  • Manage all aspects of assigned area including, but not limited to projects, production, costs, scheduling, shipping receiving and quality. Ensures on-time delivery of the product, within budget, and meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

  • Ensure fundamental food safety and quality practices maintained to achieve food safety and quality objectives and to support the development, implementation and maintenance and ongoing improvements of food safety programs.

  • Drive root cause problem solving to address vendor, supplier and customer issues concerning quality and delivery.

  • Maintain safety and healthy work environment by communicating and managing organization policies and standards.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement to improve cost, quality, and safety standards for assigned area.

  • Investigate incidents, including safety, quality, or food safety.

  • Conduct and document training of employees, including safety, food safety standards, etc.

  • Perform and oversee audits and inspections of the workplace.

  • Manage required documentation to meet Essentia internal and external regulations.

  • Encourages team member development and engagement. Create an environment for team members to grow.

  • Operate company vehicle, forklifts, and pallet jacks as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • If both the Plant Manager and Plant Superintendent are absent, the Production Supervisor assumes the responsibility.

  • If the Production Supervisor is absent, the Production Lead or Plant Superintendent would assume the Supervisor’s responsibilities.

BASIC MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

This job requires the mental capabilities to analyze the production process to develop manufacturing techniques/procedures to attain a quality finished product produced in a timely and efficient manner. Furthermore, the incumbent must have the ability to solve problems as they arise, strive to improve upon current processes, and possess excellent communication skills in conveying the production process to plant personnel. Basic math calculations.
