This PRN On-Call only position is located at Skiff Medical Center in Newton, IA.

POSITIONSUMMARY: The Sonographer performs all general, abdominal, pelvic, OB and small parts Ultrasound examinations-Vascular if trained. These procedures will be performed on various ages of patients in accordance with the age-specific delivery of care policy. This person will be able to operate all Ultrasound, and process images as needed. The technologist may be required to be available for emergency call and will also perform clerical and transporting duties as assigned by the department director.

ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of allclerical duties in the front office.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of image maintenanceand filing system.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of use ofequipment in office, such as computer, fax/copier.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of thetransportation of patients and patient care.

  • Assists in coverage of departmentand telephone communications.

  • Demonstrates knowledge ofscheduling outpatients and inpatients, with the proper preparations.

  • Demonstrates competence in beingable to work independently performing all General/OB Ultrasoundexaminations. Is competent introubleshooting Ultrasound machine problems, doing quality assurance onUltrasound machine and training other personnel when needed.

  • Identifies Age Specific needs ofpatient and complies with the same.

  • Performs all duties as a Sonographer along with beingable to take emergency call with a response time of 1 hour.

  • Demonstrates ability to operate allultrasound equipment along with performing routine equipment maintenancewhen necessary.

  • Assists department director in thepurchase of new ultrasound equipment.

  • Demonstrates eagerness to teach UltrasoundTechnology students.

  • Demonstrates ability to use PACSand VRAD telerad computers

  • Demonstrates knowledge to burn CD’sof images.

  • Demonstrates professional attitude and interest inwork by maintaining acceptable work habits and behavior.

  • Demonstrates responsibility for own professionalgrowth and continuing education.

  • Meets yearly ongoing age specificand other competencies.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of RadiologyDepartment workflow processes, policies/procedures, adhering to qualityimprovement standards.

  • Demonstrates commitment to customerservice.

EDUCATION: Must be a graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology or Ultrasound or Vascular Technology.

EXPERIENCE: Clinical experience in General and OB Ultrasonography

LICENSURE: Registered or registry eligible American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS),or Registered Vascular Technology (RVT), or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with state of Iowa permit to Practice

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to read, write, andfollow written instructions in English.

  • Must demonstrate ability tocordially deal with the public.

  • Must be registered or registryeligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) ifperforming x-rays.

  • Must be registered or registry eligiblewith the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or VascularSonographers, including knowledge in OB Ultrasonography.

  • Must have current license topractice I the State of Iowa

Must maintain current licensure in CPR.
