Job Description

Summary:

Juvenile Court Specialist 1 position will be based in the Wapello County Juvenile Court Services Office in Ottumwa, Iowa, and will cover multiple counties. Travel is required to other work locations as needed. Starting salary $33,987.20 annually, $1,307.20 bi-weekly.

Responsibilities:

Performs a wide variety of clerical and technical functions under little or no supervision to provide efficient and effective operation of the office. Enters and maintains case data in computer systems, prepares and maintains client files and multiple office records. Performs customer service responsibilities such as answers phone, responds to visitors, contact with other agencies, interacts with juveniles and their parents, law enforcement officers, judges, lawyers and general public. Prepares or drafts correspondence or other related documents. Follows appropriate processes for use of the Electronic Data Management System (EDMS). Assists JCOs in gathering information. Monitors office supplies and orders same as needed. Other work as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high school(or High School Equivalency) and two (2) years of successful completion of accredited post high school education in business, legal assistant, social work, sociology, psychology, criminology, education or related program.

Two (2) years of professional experience in business, court or legal work or a related area with one (1) year of experience involving customer service.

At the discretion of the hiring manager additional years of experience may be substituted for the required post high school education. Or, the successful completion of additional years of education (i.e., Bachelor's Degree) may be substituted for years of experience on the basis that successful completion of thirty (30) semester hours or academic equivalent equals one year of professional experience. Education cannot substitute customer service experience.

Final candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check.
