Pella Regional Health Center Comfort House/Hospice Aide in Pella, Iowa
Provides direct and indirect patient/resident care activities under the direction of Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse. Assists patient/residents with ADLS, provides for personal care, comfort and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment for patient/residents.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:
v Med tech skills preferred.
v Must demonstrate competence prior to assignment of home care aide services. Certification as a nurses’ aide will demonstrate competence. Must have proof of completion of an approved Aide Training Course.
v Completion of the Hospice of Pella Volunteer Training Course or equivalent within 6 months of accepting the position.
v One year of prior experience in health care desired.
v Competency testing and evaluation will be required prior to assignment of Comfort House aide services.
v Must complete 12 hours of OBRA training hours per year.
v Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
v Strong written and verbal skills.
v Knowledge of and acceptance of the Hospice Philosophy of Care.
v Must possess a valid Iowa driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
v Must maintain his/her own auto insurance policy.
v Interpersonal skills sufficient for effective patient, family and staff interaction.
v Ability to work interdependently with the rest of the Hospice staff, showing initiative and motivation.
