Under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing or designee, the incumbent plans, organizes, and directs all in-service educational programs throughout Holy Spirit in accordance with current applicable state, federal and local standards, guidelines and regulations, and as may be directed by the Director of Nursing to ensurei that the highest degree of quality resident care can be maintained at all times.iDuties/Responsibilities:Staff Development:Plans, develops, and coordinates facility employee education and development programs.Coordinates and plans in-service activities and programs with all departments in accordance with established policies and procedures. The incumbent may incorporate commercially produced instruction material and training aids into existing in-service programs as deemed appropriate.Ensures all employees receive required annual education and maintains/reports those records.Develops and directs orientation program for nursing personnel in accordance with nursing department policies and procedures.i Makes certain that all staff attend the required hours of in-service training per year according to regulation and license requirement. Such training should reflect opportunities for improvement (e.g., as determined by annual performance appraisals) as well as employee interests as part of succession planning.Provides resident and family education as needed. Assists in planning and leading monthly nursing department meetings in conjunction with the Director of Nursing or designee.Instrumental in learning key computer programs to be a resource or support person for training (i.e. medical records and charting programs, scheduling programs).Plan, develop, direct, evaluate and coordinate educational and on-the-job training programs for alli employees and volunteers.Ensures facility compliance with all regulatory requirements related to education, quality improvement and infection control.Identify trends and needs for action plans that may require education.Acts as on-call nurse during off shifts as needed.Develop, direct and schedule refresher training, as necessary, for staff and licensed professional personnel, based upon core competencies, job levels and succession planning.Ensure that all personnel attend and participate in OSHA, CDC in-service training programs for hazard communication, TB management, infection control and blood borne pathogen standardsSecure, develop and maintain records, reports, instructional manuals, reference materials, etc. pertinent to in- service educational records, licensing, external trainings and testing, and other staff requirements.Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, class attendance, subject records, etc.Prepare annual in-service training calendar that includes all mandatory in-services required by regulations, policies and procedures.Participates in the interview process. Directs and oversees the onboarding process to include: organizing, developing and conducting new hire orientation; introducing newly hired personnel to their position, policies and procedures, resident rights, responsibilities, etc.; conducts competency testing with new hires; assists with training on the units for all new nursing hires; directs and oversees the mentorship program.Conducts periodic competencies tests and observations of staff. Coordinates and carries out annual skills fairs/education for nursing department.Ensures all licenses, certifications and compliance records are current for appropriate staff.
