Summary: TheMaintenance Technicianwillsupport manufacturing operations by maintaining, trouble shooting and repairing all facilities and manufacturing equipment in a safe and orderly fashion as directed by the maintenance area/shift leader.

Job Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned and required.

  1. Troubleshoot and repair problems on plant facilities and production equipment of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic in nature.

  2. Assist in the implementations and improvement of effective preventive maintenance programs for all equipment, perform scheduled maintenance on facilities and production equipment as required

  3. Maintain and update equipment records, schematics, blueprints and files in orderly fashion

  4. Remain current on maintenance and safety requirements and other training as required

  5. Complete all work in accordance with IOSHA, NEC, JIC and IDNR standards and regulations

  6. Complete correspondence, forms and reports using personal computer and required software

  7. Maintain department repair parts stock and inventory

  8. Work in a safe, quality minded, and productive manner with a sense of urgency to achieve maintenance deadlines and to attain production priorities as scheduled

  9. Attend daily pre-shift meetings and carry out assigned work loads as directed by shift/area leaders.

  10. Communicate with maintenance manager and maintenance area/shift leaders, and other plant personnel about maintenance concerns, providing complete action plans and status reports as and when required

  11. Work with vendors and/or contractors, displaying company values of honesty and integrity

  12. Work with all shifts in design and development of improving methods and equipment through continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles

  13. May be required to adjust shifts as necessary

  14. Follow and support Magna Body & Chassis Iowa and Magna’s operating principles

  15. Support efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey

Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible to help develop all maintenance apprentices and give guidance where needed.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Must have high school diploma or GED

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and basic electrical systems

  • Basic computerproficiency in Microsoft Office software

  • Must have good organizational skills

  • Ability to exhibit high integrity and honesty

  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, diagrams, schematics, equipment instructions, requirements and business correspondences and effectively present information to various groups

  • Fabrication and mechanical skills

  • Ability to obtain and maintain fork truck certification
