Manage the day to day operations of the Volunteer Services Department and Customer Service Call Center; provide assistance to other support services teams.

Execute volunteer recruitment, onboarding, orientation, ongoing education and yearly reorientation of all volunteers.

Maintain communication with hospital departments to ensure volunteer program is meeting their needs. Provide appropriate communication to volunteers regarding hospital updates and volunteer expectations.

Provide evaluation of volunteers, feedback and training to assure all are meeting expectations.

Maintain volunteer position descriptions, volunteer personnel files to meet requirements of TJC.

Provide volunteer recognition each day as well a yearly event during volunteer week.

Provide daily leadership to the Customer Service Call Center team, including scheduling, payroll, and personnel matters.

Maintain communication with hospital departments to ensure transport service is meeting their needs. Provide appropriate communication to team regarding hospital updates and expectations of our customers.

Perform evaluation of staff; provide feedback and training to assure all are meeting expectations.

Provide guidance and decision-making support to other support services managers; including Allen Auxiliary, Plant Operations, Safety & Security, EVS, Nutrition & Dining and Property & Asset Management under the direction of the Executive Director.

Serve as liaison to Project SEARCH and oversee the needs of the program.

Serve as liaison to Valet Services and oversee the needs of the program.

Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.

Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.

Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.

Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.

Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.

Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

At least 2 years’ experience in a human service position. Proven success managing people and establishing long-term relationships.

Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must have the ability to organize, plan and evaluate programs as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.


Bachelor’s degree in related field: (e.g. Business, Accounting, Marketing, Communication, Community Relations, Public Relations, Leisure Services, Public Health)
