American Equity Data Governance Analyst II - Data Management in West Des Moines, Iowa
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Data Governance Analyst partners with stakeholders to effectively manage data as a key strategic asset through development and operationalization of enterprise level processes, standards and tools to support data governance & data management for American Equity. This role establishes and oversees the data governance artifacts and ensure they are applied consistently across the enterprise.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Partners with the business to document acceptable access, use, disclosure and disposal of data.
Partners with the business to establish and maintain processes for capturing critical data elements and business glossary terms.
Facilitates the implementation and usage of business glossary terms across the enterprise.
Provides standard and ad hoc reports to facilitate the analysis of the critical data elements within the IBM InfoSphere Information Governance Catalog.
Maintains a business-oriented IBM InfoSphere Information Governance Catalog User Guide. Provide navigation assistance to end users.
Tracks policies, standards, escalations and decisions to ensure they follow predefined processes.
Collaborates with authorized users on all areas of data development, consumption and life cycle management to ensure compliance and effective processing and controls are implemented.
Reviews and proposes data policies, standards and processes that need to be implemented.
Maintains data governance roles and responsibilities matrix.
Supports the successful deployment of data governance tools used to support its business processes.
Performs other related work as assigned.
General Description of Indirect Reports (2 and 3-downs):
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, MIS, Statistics, Information Management or related field of study; plus two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
An understanding of business and technical metadata, data lineage and data models and methods to document this metadata for both technical and business users.
Experience in writing business definitions of tables, entities, files, columns, attributes and fields.
Experience auditing compliance of policies and processes.
Knowledge and experience working with IBM Infosphere Information Governance Catalog preferred.
Knowledge and experience working with IBM Infosphere Information Analyzer preferred.
Knowledge of data governance concepts.
Knowledge of data reporting tools.
Knowledge of data quality concepts.
Knowledge of data modeling concepts.
Ability to manage relationships across the Business.
Strong customer service orientation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Mathematical skills and strong attention to detail.
Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with employees, customers, and other outside third parties.
