General Job Summary:
The primary purpose of the Maintenance Technician is to assist with general maintenance items in the health care facility to ensure compliance with Life Safety Code while maintaining a safe environment for the residents.
Duties and Responsibilities
v Performs general maintenance within the facility and grounds such as painting, floor care, general upkeep, equipment repairs, plumbing, electrical.
v Assists Maintenance Department with special projects as directed by the Administrator
v Participates in the maintenance on-call rotation.
v Ensures a safe environment.
v Assists in the moving/arranging of equipment/supplies to assure that activity areas are ready scheduled activity functions.
v Promptly reports any unsafe working condition.
v Reports any accidents to manager or supervisor on duty ASAP.
v Demonstrate knowledge of fire, general safety, and disaster plan procedures.
v Demonstrates knowledge of proper body mechanics.
v Operate all equipment in a safe manner.
v Utilizes cost effective measures during job performance.
v Follows set budgetary guidelines.
v Interact/communicate with residents, staff, and visitors in a courteous manner.
v Acts as a positive representative of the facility.
v Contributes to team effort, may float to other positions as needed.
v Communicates with employees in all departments.
v Keeps all resident and employee information confidential.
v Reports all complaints/grievances to the Manager or Supervisor on duty.
v Reports actions detrimental to resident welfare to Manager or Supervisor on duty.,
v Maintains positive, professional interaction with residents and staff.
Qualifications:
v General Qualifications
o Able to perform general maintenace in areas of plumbing, electrical, equipment repair, painting.
o Sound judgment and high moral standards.
o Sincere desire to work with the aged and those with limited capacity for self-care.
o Ability to organize and coordinate for multiple patients.
o Must be well-groomed, courteous, tactful, patient, kind and pleasant when dealing with patients.
o Must be level-headed in emergency situations.
o Must be self-motivated and have an acute sense of responsibility.
o Must possess a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm in order to create an atmosphere conducive to rehabilitation and growth.

o High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
v Continuous Education
o Attends and participates in continuing education programs.
v Work Experience
o No previous work experience is required.
o Experience in working with individuals with limited capacity is preferred.
