About this PositionA System Engineer at The Iowa Clinic is responsible for establishing stability, integrity and efficient operation to Information Systems that support core organizational functions. This role will ensure that system hardware and software are compatible and capable of required performance metrics set by internal Information Technology department and with outside vendors. This role will also be responsible for system support and upgrades/enhancements to existing software/hardware. A part of this role will also include defining needs and coordinating the efforts to locate, assess, install, test, maintain and document computer software/hardware systemsQualifications/Requirements- Associates or Bachelor’s degree required- MCSE preferred- Security experience is preferred- 6+ years of previous work related knowledge and experience preferredEssential Functions1. Provides on-site software and hardware support assuring quality service to customer.2. Consistently communicates with Manager, Vendors and IT Team on project progress.3. Provides back-up support to the Network Engineer and other System Engineers4. Create and maintain programmatic and documentation to insure efficient planning and execution5. Manage and document System Configurations6. Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities7. Assists with Help-desk and PC-Tech support as needed8. Coordinate system development tasks including design, integration and hardware9. Develops and completes actions in system specifications, technical and logistical requirements10. Update, monitor and patch software and server applications (Virus Protection, Windows, Firmware etc.)11. Maintains appropriate documentation to support systems and job related tasks12. Maintains working knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of IT Systems, with an ability to perform other functions in the event of an absence or increased workload13. Support server software/hardware including but not limited to installation, troubleshooting, maintenance14. Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations affecting area of responsibility and makes recommendations for changes to ensure compliance15. Promotes a positive, professional image of The Iowa Clinic both internally and externally. Promotes positive interpersonal relations and serves as a role model with all personnel16. Maintains confidentiality of all patient and financial information
