American Equity Sr Cloud Infrastructure Engineer in West Des Moines, Iowa
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer is responsible for ensuring infrastructure tooling and automations are an enabler of organizational agility, including the installation, integration, and management of cloud agnostic toolsets. The incumbent
develops and utilizes deployment and process automation capabilities (scripts, applications, platforms, APIs) to ensure processes are defined, repeatable, scalable, and able to be disseminated on-premise and in the cloud.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides strategy and implementation services that enable IT Operations to achieve substantial cost reduction and business agility benefits through the use of DevSecOps and CI/CD (continuous integration / continuous delivery) processes.
Assists with the development of enterprise level DevSecOps strategies and leads the building of automated infrastructure deployments; establishes DevSecOps pipelines.
Develops strategies for automated client/server implementations; architects the infrastructure required to support those strategies. Acts as project lead in the design and review of new server systems, applications, and hardware as it relates to automation.
Actively contributes to the configuration, layout, and performance tuning of the production infrastructure, in order to ensure automation optimization.
Modifies, maintains, and updates software, utilizing practices of change, configuration, and release management.
Acts as capacity planner when needed.
Maintains a deep understanding and awareness of technology advancements for future cloud, software, and other relative implementations and capabilities to support architecting, engineering, and planning activities in IT infrastructure and operations; conducts research on DevSecOps tool chains, automated infrastructure deployments, and cloud strategies.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business administration or related field of study; plus five (5) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Experience working with multiple technology platforms and systems.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATIONS:
Must hold at least two major vendor technical certifications such as MCSE, VMWare VCP, Cisco CCNA, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Extensive knowledge and experience with the implementation of “infrastructure as code” and the management of network and security infrastructure, automated server deployments and an understanding of DevSecOps tool chains and integrations.
Must have working knowledge in Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, Python, Kubernetes, Azure, VMWare, Windows and Linux.
