The Sr Reporting Analyst works with peers and leaders across the Insurance Operations division to develop and maintain management information reports and dashboards, supports underlying database table changes, mines data to satisfy new requests for information, and conducts data analysis for data quality and validity. These value-added analytics and reporting solutions are shared with leaders across Insurance Operations to aid in decision making and internal control purposes.
Gather and analyze requirements for new or existing reports and deliver reports and dashboards on Insurance Operations workflow and transactional activity, aging and exceptions, timely and accurately.
Deliver Business Objects universe changes, using the semantic layer to manipulate tables, creating joins, alias tables, and contexts, to single or multi-source universes.
Write efficient structured query language (SQL) to create views on database tables.
Create Business Intelligence reports containing complex features including cross tabs, prompts, drill-downs, sub-queries, conditional formatting, and setup automatic scheduling.
Collaborate with operational business owners to obtain a solid understanding of business processes, including workflow and control procedures, to apply in building reports.
Act as liaison between business areas and IT to determine where data resides in data sources.
Research, capture and validate new data or metrics to help business owners understand outcomes of ad hoc requests and process improvement initiatives.
Conduct analysis of data to identify trends and root causes and construct analysis that tells the story to consumers.
Plan and lead monthly meetings with operational leaders on recent and upcoming deliverables.
Stay closely involved in specific projects and initiatives that directly impact data used in reporting and assist with project initiatives or other reporting needs as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (in Business, Accounting, Finance, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems or IT) or related field or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience required
5+ years of reporting experience or IT experience required
Prior Business Objects WebI reporting and universe experience preferred
Advanced Excel skills required
Familiarity working with relational databases
Experience in writing and reading structured query language (SQL), data mining, data analysis, and reporting
Knowledge and understanding of business intelligence tools
Excellent analytical, communication, interpersonal and technical skills
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to drive the requirements process with both technical and business partners
Strong collaboration and partnering skills
Ability to be a self-starter and proactively identify efficiencies in processes and tools
Excellent organizational and project management skills
