Systems Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in transforming the future of technology and public health.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The qualified applicant will support development needs of rapidly expanding public health surveillance and related projects. These projects assist the U.S. Government in addressing control and prevention of infectious disease and directing national capacity building investments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, plan, implement, and periodically evaluate and enhance system architecture for varied applications and systems, public health surveillance and related projects.

  • Work with the stakeholders to define key capabilities and performance requirements.

  • Define design and technology aspects of the system in accordance with customer specifications.

  • Develop thorough definition of system external interfaces and define system implementation approaches and operational concepts.

  • Ensure requirements are met and evaluates performance with customer.

  • Responsible for leading or directing other aspects of the project, including software development, operational requirements, hosting, and system performance to keep up with changing requirements and varying volumes of data.

  • Will be involved in defining implementation architectures, developing a deep expertise in the AWS/Azure technologies, as well as broad know-how around how applications and services are constructed using the Azure platform.

  • Will be well-versed in security as it relates to customer applications and services.

  • Will be required to contribute as a senior developer on key projects.

  • Will serve as a senior technical contact for the project with the customer and will interact with other technical contacts across partner organizations including public health departments and laboratories.

  • Assigns tasks to team members, monitors progress, and reports to the project manager.

  • Require and support developer’s use of secure coding practices to ensure protection of all PHI/PII.

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or engineering with a minimum of 9 years of experience

  • 7 years of Microsoft .Net, SQL Server development experience

  • 5 years of ASP.Net development (C#) with Microsoft Visual Studio tool configuration

  • 3 years experience with concepts such as microservices (including scalability best practices), containers, and container orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes

  • 3 years experience with Agile or DevOps SDLC methodologies

  • 3 years of experience developing Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) applications using relational databases including using SQL

  • 3 years experience with Git based version control software such as GitLab/GitHub

  • 3 years experience with Creating API design/technical documentation (Raml, swagger) and messaging protocols such as AMQP (Rabbitmq, Kafka)

  • Must possess one or more of the following certifications: MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional), MCAD (Microsoft Certified Application Developer), MCSD (Microsoft Certified Solution Developer), MCPD (Microsoft Certified Professional Developer: Enterprise Application Developer)

  • Strong familiarity with the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile/Scrum

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products

  • Knowledge of data security systems and protocols is also necessary

  • System performance and scalability experience

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or engineering with a minimum of 7 years of experience.

  • Prior CDC and public health experience.
